Fabricage van printplaten voor AV-receivers met HDMI-schakeling en meerkanaals audio.
An AV receiver PCB integrates high-bandwidth HDMI switching with multichannel digital audio processing, DAC/ADC stages, network connectivity and multiple amplifier channels. This makes the system unusually mixed-domain: high-speed video, low-jitter digital audio, low-noise analog signals, high-current Class-D or Class-AB outputs and switching power supplies may all coexist inside one chassis.
Highleap Electronics manufactures and assembles customer-designed AV receiver PCBs and PCBAs. Depending on the architecture, the program can include an HDMI/digital main board, audio DSP/DAC board, amplifier board, power board or integrated assembly, with component sourcing, programming, inspection and customer-defined functional testing.
1. Key AV Receiver PCB Design and Manufacturing Priorities
An AVR should be partitioned by signal type and power level. HDMI transceivers and processors need controlled high-speed routing; DAC and preamp sections need low noise; power amplifiers need current, heat spreading and EMI control.
- HDMI switching architecture: Define input/output count, actual TMDS/FRL target, eARC/ARC needs, EDID/HPD/HDCP behavior and any video passthrough features. The high-speed section can follow HDMI-interface printplaat productieprincipes.
- Audio DSP and clocking: Multichannel decode/render, bass management, delay, EQ and room-processing functions depend on the selected processor and audio clocks. Board design can be reviewed against audio DSP-printplaat overwegingen.
- DAC/analog separation: DACs, op amps and low-level analog paths should be separated from switching regulators and amplifier outputs while maintaining intentional ground references.
- Amplifier power delivery: Multichannel amplifiers draw substantial current. The speaker-output stages can be reviewed using PCB van de eindversterker manufacturing considerations. Copper width, thermal pads, output filter components and speaker connectors should be sized for the released load and channel count.
- Thermisch beheer: HDMI processors, DSPs and power stages can all generate heat. Airflow, heatsinks and chassis coupling should be validated under simultaneous channel load.
- EMI-regeling: High-speed HDMI and Class-D switching can interfere with analog/audio or wireless subsystems. Grounding, filter placement and layout should follow a system-level EMC plan.
Why is an AV receiver PCB usually harder than a soundbar PCB?
An AVR often has more HDMI inputs, more independent audio outputs, a larger analog preamp section, more power-amplifier channels and a wider variety of external interfaces. It also has to manage video passthrough and audio extraction/return paths at the same time.
Should HDMI and audio amplifier circuitry be placed on one PCB?
It can be done, but many products benefit from functional partitioning into digital/HDMI, analog/DAC and power-amplifier boards. The best architecture depends on chassis size, connector layout, thermal strategy, channel count and production/service requirements.
2. HDMI Switching, eARC and Multichannel Audio Signal-Chain Integration
Modern AV receivers act as an HDMI repeater and an audio processor. The system must receive video/audio from sources, route or pass video to the display and simultaneously extract or return audio for DSP and amplification.
- HDMI transceiver/crosspoint: High-speed input/output channels should use controlled stack-up and connector launches similar to HDMI-printplaat fabricage.
- eARC/ARC path: The receiver may need audio returned from the TV over the same HDMI cable. Firmware, standby power and connector routing should match the selected HDMI solution.
- I²S/TDM audio buses: Multichannel digital audio links between HDMI receiver, DSP, DAC and amplifiers should use clean clocks and deterministic channel mapping.
- DAC and preamp stages: Low-noise layout and grounding can be guided by audio PCB-ontwerp practices, especially around analog outputs and volume-control circuits.
- Network/wireless audio: Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth should be treated as separate RF/noise domains and included in the firmware test configuration where fitted.
HDMI 2.2 also introduces latency-related functionality aimed at multi-hop systems such as AV receivers and soundbars, but the OEM should specify the exact HDMI features supported by the selected silicon rather than assuming every new feature is present.
3. Multichannel Amplifier PCBA, Component Sourcing and Inspection
The amplifier section has different manufacturing risks from the HDMI/digital board. Large thermal pads, output inductors, electrolytics, speaker connectors and power devices should be processed according to their current and thermal requirements.
- Audio amplifier assembly: Highleap kan ondersteuning bieden printplaatassemblage van een audioversterker for digital or analog power stages.
- Goedgekeurde leveranciers: HDMI transceivers, DSPs, DACs, op amps, amplifier ICs and PMICs should follow customer-controlled componenten sourcing component regels.
- AOI: AOI in PCBA can verify visible SMT, connector polarity and output-filter components before heatsinks obstruct access.
- X-ray: BGA/LGA DSP/processor packages and bottom-terminated amplifier devices can be evaluated using X-ray inspectie waar nodig.
- Heatsink interface: Thermal pads, screws, clips and insulators should be assembled to the released mechanical condition so power stages are not overstressed or poorly coupled.
Which components most often need strict substitution control in an AVR?
HDMI transceivers, DSP/SoC, DACs, clock devices, power-amplifier ICs, output inductors and low-noise op amps are common examples because electrical performance, firmware or thermal behavior may change even when a replacement is footprint-compatible.

Send the HDMI topology, PCB files, DSP/DAC/amplifier BOM, chassis/thermal details, firmware, quantity and audio/video test plan. Highleap can review high-speed, low-noise and power-stage manufacturing risks.
4. Functional Testing for HDMI, DSP, DAC and Amplifier Channels
AV receiver testing should be divided into video, digital-audio, analog and power-amplifier checkpoints so one failure does not hide inside a simple “sound present” test.
- HDMI route test: Verify each input/output and customer-defined video mode, including eARC/ARC where fitted.
- DSP/firmware test: Confirm the correct image, channel map and basic audio-processing path.
- DAC/preamp test: Measure or verify line-level output channels according to the OEM’s production limits.
- Amplifier test: Use defined dummy loads or speaker fixtures to check channel output, protection and abnormal current/temperature behavior.
- Factory FCT: Highleap kan implementeren functioneel testen with approved audio/video sources, loads, firmware and pass/fail criteria.
5. Production Release and RFQ Data for AV Receiver PCB Manufacturing
AVR production works best when digital, audio and amplifier boards are released as a synchronized system. Connector pinouts, channel mapping, firmware and chassis thermal interfaces should not change independently between lots.
- PCB packages: Released fabrication data for main/digital, audio and amplifier boards, including controlled impedance and copper requirements.
- stuklijst: HDMI, DSP, DAC/ADC, op amp, amplifier, power and network parts with approved alternates.
- Mechanical/thermal: Chassis connector locations, heatsinks, fans, thermal pads and speaker terminals.
- Programmering: DSP/MCU firmware, HDMI configuration, channel map and any calibration data.
- FCT: HDMI source/sink, audio test vectors, amplifier loads, power/thermal limits and required logs.
