Ventec VT-47 Leiterplattenhersteller für zuverlässige High-Tg FR-4 Multilayer-Leiterplatten
Highleap Electronics reviews, fabricates, and assembles Ventec VT-47 PCBs for industrial, automotive, medical, server/router control, and communication electronics. We use the material as part of a complete reliability system: laminate/prepreg construction, resin fill, drilling, desmear, plating, CAF controls, moisture, lead-free assembly, inspection, and traceability.
VT-47 PCB Fabrication Beyond Standard Reference Values
For VT-47 constructions, Highleap can review high-Tg multilayers, lead-free assembly compatibility, controlled impedance, thermal-reliability requirements, and advanced interconnect, via, or sequential-lamination structures. The published rigid PCB capability table provides reference conditions; it is not the boundary for every complex build. Special interconnect, board thickness, copper distribution, or reliability requirements are assessed from the design package.
Wichtig: The appropriate route may be a rapid prototype, an engineering pilot, or repeat production. When the project carries unusual process risk, Highleap confirms the material construction and control plan before committing to the production schedule.

Is Ventec VT-47 the Right High-Tg FR-4 for Your PCB?
Ventec VT-47 is a phenolic-cured high-Tg FR-4 laminate and prepreg system developed for lead-free-compatible multilayer PCBs. Ventec publishes a Tg of approximately 180°C and positions the material around low Z-axis expansion, CAF resistance, UV blocking, and thermal reliability.
Choose VT-47 when
- the board needs more lead-free thermal margin than standard FR-4;
- plated-hole reliability, CAF risk, and multilayer process robustness are major concerns;
- the product is an industrial controller, server/router controller, automotive module, medical device, or communication board;
- the signal-loss requirement remains within the verified material and stackup capability.
Choose another grade when
- the product requires a confirmed halogen-free material such as an approved FR-4.1 grade;
- long high-speed channels require low-loss or ultra-low-loss performance;
- the application is a microwave/RF circuit requiring controlled high-frequency dielectric data;
- the specification uses Tg as a substitute for complete via and assembly reliability.
VT-47 is a practical reliability material, not a universal premium laminate. Its value appears when the complete board—stackup, drilling, plating, moisture control, reflow, assembly, and test—uses the thermal capability correctly.
Highleap VT-47 Manufacturing and PCBA Scope
Highleap can review VT-47 rigid multilayers for prototypes, low-volume production, and repeat volume manufacture. Depending on the design, the quotation may include controlled impedance, blind/buried vias, back drilling, via fill, press-fit, heavy connector fields, component sourcing, SMT/through-hole assembly, AOI/X-ray, conformal coating, programming, and functional testing.
| Fähigkeitsbereich | Review scope | Produktionsleistung |
|---|---|---|
| Materialaufbau | Confirm VT-47 laminate/prepreg, glass style, resin content, copper, thickness, UL requirement, supply, and traceability. | Approved stackup based on purchasable materials. |
| Mehrschichtige Laminierung | Review resin fill, copper balance, symmetry, press cycles, thickness, registration, panel size, and warpage. | A manufacturable press package. |
| Drilling and CAF controls | Check drill quality, desmear, hole-wall condition, spacing, plating, via geometry, cleanliness, and moisture exposure. | Microsection and process evidence as specified. |
| Signalintegrität | Model actual construction and copper for controlled impedance; check whether VT-47 loss is suitable for the route length. | Geometry and coupon plan or a recommendation to use a lower-loss grade. |
| bleifreie Montage | Review moisture, reflow count/profile, BGA and connector stress, support tooling, AOI/X-ray, cleaning, and coating. | A coordinated PCB/PCBA release and test plan. |
Final capability is tied to the actual design. A 180°C Tg value does not answer layer count, hole aspect ratio, finished thickness, panel size, or assembly complexity.
Lead-Free, RoHS, and Halogen-Free Must Not Be Confused
These terms are commercially and technically different.
Bleifrei kompatibel
The material can support an appropriately qualified lead-free manufacturing and assembly thermal history. It does not mean every substance in the finished product is lead-free, RoHS compliant, or halogen-free.
RoHS-konform
The finished product complies with applicable restrictions on specified hazardous substances when supported by declarations across the complete material set.
Halogen frei
The material meets defined chlorine and bromine limits under a stated specification. VT-47 should not be called halogen-free merely because it supports lead-free assembly. If halogen-free is mandatory, specify the exact approved grade, such as VT-447 where appropriate, and the required environmental evidence.
A drawing that says “VT-47, lead-free and halogen-free” is internally risky unless the supplier has confirmed the exact construction. Highleap will request clarification rather than interpret compliance language informally.
Stackup and Reliability Requirements
VT-47 should be specified as a full laminate/prepreg construction. The RFQ should provide:
- layer count, finished thickness, dimensions, copper weights, glass styles, and resin content where fixed;
- impedance table, maximum high-speed route lengths, copper profile, and loss requirement;
- hole table, aspect ratio, via fill, blind/buried vias, back drilling, press-fit, and annular-ring requirements;
- operating environment, voltage, spacing, moisture, CAF, thermal cycling, and product life expectations;
- lead-free reflow profile, number of cycles, wave/selective soldering, repair limits, and board support;
- UL, IPC, RoHS, REACH, customer environmental declarations, traceability, and CoC wording.
High Tg improves thermal margin, but plated-hole reliability depends on Z-axis expansion, cure, hole-wall quality, copper plating, via geometry, moisture, and assembly stress. The manufacturer must control the complete chain.
Fabrication and Assembly Process Controls
- Incoming material: verify exact VT-47 construction, lot, copper, certificate, storage, and bake requirements.
- Stackup/lamination: match prepreg resin to copper topography, balance the panel, control cure, thickness, registration, and warpage.
- Drilling/desmear: optimize drilling and resin removal to avoid rough, damaged, or contaminated hole walls.
- Überzug: control hole-wall copper, surface growth, filled vias, press-fit fields, and microsection sampling.
- Imaging/etch: compensate for actual copper, hold controlled features, and verify impedance coupons where required.
- Lead-free assembly: manage moisture, paste, stencil, reflow, selective/wave soldering, BGA X-ray, connector insertion, cleaning, and coating.
- Endgültige Veröffentlichung: electrical test, AOI, microsection, impedance, functional test, material traceability, and deviations are linked to the lot.
CAF prevention also requires clean processing, appropriate spacing, sound hole walls, moisture control, and realistic voltage/environmental design. A CAF-resistant material cannot compensate for a damaged or contaminated PCB.
Applications and Design Limits
Industrial and automotive control
Lead-free process margin, plated-hole reliability, and CAF resistance can justify VT-47. The customer should still define temperature cycling, vibration, coating, power spacing, connectors, and product-level qualification.
Medical and communication electronics
High layer count and reliability may be more important than ultra-low signal loss. Regulatory and traceability requirements must be included in the RFQ rather than added after production.
Server and router controller boards
VT-47 can fit control, power, and moderate high-speed sections where the channel budget allows. Long SerDes channels should be simulated with the actual material and copper; a low-loss family may be required for the longest paths.
Not a microwave laminate
Do not position VT-47 as a substitute for Rogers, Taconic, or another dedicated RF material solely because it has high Tg. Thermal class and microwave dielectric performance are different selection axes.
Cost, Lead Time, and RFQ Requirements
| LED Treiber | Cost/schedule effect | Kontrollaktion |
|---|---|---|
| Layer count and finished thickness | More material, press cycles, drilling, plating, inspection, and warpage control. | Freeze a manufacturable stackup early. |
| Resin fill and copper density | Heavy copper, large clear areas, and asymmetric patterns complicate lamination. | Provide copper maps and allow stackup adjustment. |
| Via and hole structure | Small holes, high aspect ratio, fill, HDI, back drill, and press-fit add operations. | Use only the complexity required by routing and reliability. |
| Impedance and high-speed testing | Coupons, TDR, loss testing, and reporting add direct cost. | Define acceptance requirements before quotation. |
| Environmental/compliance evidence | Special declarations, UL/IPC, lot traceability, and data retention add administrative and quality work. | State exact document wording and retention period. |
| PCBA complexity | BGAs, press-fit, selective soldering, coating, programming, and functional test may dominate total price. | Quote PCB and assembly together. |
