PCB Fabrication for Designs Specifying IT-158

Highleap Electronics supports PCB fabrication and complete PCBA production for customer designs specifying IT-158. Our DFM review considers multilayer or HDI structure, copper distribution, via design, assembly heat exposure, and the customer's quality requirements.

Highleap Manufacturing Review

HDI / multilayer structure
Review sequential build requirements, microvias, buried vias, and overall layer construction.

Copper distribution
Check inner/outer copper weights, balance, spacing, and thicker-copper areas where applicable.

Hole reliability
Review drill sizes, aspect ratios, plating requirements, and via structures.

Lead-free assembly
Coordinate bare-board construction with the approved assembly and reflow requirements.

What Does IT-158 Mean in a PCB Specification?

IT-158 is treated by Highleap as a customer-controlled laminate designation within the approved PCB stack-up. It is often selected for multilayer designs, including projects that may use HDI structures or thicker copper.Because these board types place additional demands on drilling, plating, copper balance, lamination, and assembly, our manufacturing review focuses on the complete construction rather than on a single material property.Any electrical, thermal, or reliability values used for design qualification should come from current manufacturer documentation accepted by the customer. Highleap does not reproduce third-party datasheet tables on this service page.

PCB Manufacturing & Assembly Process

IT-158-specified projects can range from conventional multilayer boards to more demanding HDI or thicker-copper constructions, so the process plan is tailored to the actual Gerber, drill, stack-up, and assembly data.

HDI & Multilayer DFM

Sequential lamination, microvias, buried vias, and layer registration are reviewed when present in the approved design.

Copper Balance Review

Copper weights and distribution are checked to support stable fabrication and the requested finished dimensions.

Hole-Wall Control

Drilling, desmear preparation, plating, and finished-hole requirements are planned around the actual board thickness and via design.

Impedance & Geometry

Controlled-impedance structures are produced from customer-approved targets, stack-up data, and tolerances.

Assembly Process Review

Component packages, thermal pads, reflow exposure, through-hole operations, and inspection needs are considered before PCBA.

Inspection & Testing

AOI, electrical testing, X-ray where required, programming, and functional testing can be integrated into the production flow.

For HDI, thicker copper, or other demanding constructions, Highleap confirms manufacturability from the actual design rather than assuming capability from the material designation.

Material reference notice: Highleap Electronics manufactures PCBs and PCBAs to customer-approved material specifications. IT-158 is referenced only to identify a customer-specified laminate. Highleap does not manufacture the referenced laminate. Material properties, availability, and qualification should be confirmed from current manufacturer documentation and the customer’s approved engineering requirements.
