How PCB Quantity Affects Your Final Price
Higher production quantities normally reduce the unit price because engineering, setup and other fixed production costs can be distributed across more boards. However, there is no standard quantity-to-price formula for every PCB. Each board is manufactured to specific design, material and process requirements, so the final price depends on both quantity and the actual PCB construction.
Higher Volume Usually Lowers Unit Cost
For standard PCB production, larger quantities normally provide a lower unit price. Fixed engineering and production preparation costs are distributed across more boards, while manufacturing can also become more efficient at production volume.
PCB Pricing Is Not Based on Quantity Alone
PCB manufacturing is highly customized. Layer count, board thickness, copper weight, materials, via structures, surface finish, impedance requirements, special processes and panel utilization can all affect the final cost. The same quantity can therefore result in very different prices for different PCB designs.
