A wall washer is really a controllable color surface broken into fixtures, and the manufacturing challenge is making many separate fixtures behave as one continuous, uniformly colored whole. That demands tight color consistency, clean data and power distribution, and a control scheme that scales. Highleap Electronics fabricates wall-washer light engines and assembles control boards on rigid aluminum and flexible substrates, to your specification, drawing on our LED display PCB pixel-control experience. We are a contract PCB factory, not a fixture brand — you design and sell the fixture; we build its boards to your design or engineer them to your requirements. ISO 9001, MOQ 1 unit, 24-hour quote.

This page covers color-engine fabrication, DMX and addressable control assembly, power distribution over long runs, and ordering. To start, send us your files.

1. Why Architectural-Lighting Brands Choose Highleap for PCB Fabrication

An architectural wall washer is a system, not a standalone fixture — so we fabricate the light engine and assemble the control board together, to your design. That avoids the integration problems of sourcing engine and controller separately, and it is what lets a multi-fixture facade read as one continuous lit surface.

  • Matched engine + controller build — channels, pixel mapping, and protocol manufactured as one to your spec.
  • Rigid and flexible fabrication — flexible boards for curves and strip-style engines for long linear runs.
  • Pixel control depth — addressable builds using our LED display techniques.
  • IP65–IP68 build — from rain-exposed facades to submerged features.
  • Build-to-spec, MOQ 1 unit, ISO 9001, 24-hour quote, OEM/white-label.

2. Fabricating the Color Light Engine — Rigid and Flexible

Wall-washer engines are multi-channel for color mixing and fabricated on aluminum for heat handling, or on flexible substrates where the fixture must bend. We manufacture to your design or engineer the engine to your color and form requirements.

Color mixing quality is set on the board before any controller is involved. The spacing and interleaving of the red, green, blue, and white emitters determine how well their outputs blend at the working distance — too coarse a layout produces visible color fringing, while a well-interleaved layout blends cleanly. For RGBW the dedicated white channel matters because mixing white from R, G, and B alone yields a metameric white with poor rendering, whereas a real white emitter gives accurate whites and clean pastel tints. We fabricate the emitter arrangement and channel balance for the mixing quality your application needs.

  • Aluminum MCPCB linear engines — on our aluminum LED PCB line.
  • Flexible boards — for curved facades and columns; see flexible LED PCB.
  • Strip-style engines — long linear formats; see LED strip PCB.
  • RGB/RGBW emitters — built to your channel configuration.
  • Pixel pitch — finer pitch for smoother gradients, using high-density techniques.

3. Assembling DMX and Addressable Pixel Control

Control is what makes a wall washer architectural. Whether the fixture shows one solid color or a moving gradient depends on the control board and protocol, which we assemble to match your installation.

  • DMX512/RDM — the architectural and entertainment standard for scene and show control, with status reporting.
  • Addressable pixel control — per-pixel data for video-like gradients, using techniques from our LED display PCB work.
  • Multi-channel constant-current drive — independent R, G, B, W per zone on a dynamic power-control PCB.
  • Wireless and tunable white — wireless DMX, app control, and adjustable-CCT white variants.
  • High-bit-depth dimming — fine resolution to avoid visible stepping in slow fades.

4. Powering Long Linear Runs and Fixture Formats

Wall washers are often installed as continuous lines, which raises real power-distribution challenges and several physical formats the board must support. We fabricate to your run layout.

  • Voltage-drop management — long runs dim and shift color toward the far end; we design constant-current regulation and power-injection points to hold color consistency end to end, with the driver matched to the run.
  • Seamless joints — board layouts that keep emitter spacing constant across fixture joints so a run reads as unbroken, with clean data/power pass-through.
  • Formats and IP ratings — standard linear lengths that tile, slim/micro profiles, recessed and surface formats, and sealing from IP65 to IP68 via our waterproof PCB work.

5. Thermal, Color Consistency and Environmental Hardening

Color fixtures still produce heat, and a sealed linear housing traps it; consistent color across many fixtures is a binning and calibration outcome; and the fixtures live outdoors or underwater. We manufacture for all three, to your standard.

  • Thermal design — protecting color accuracy and life; see LED thermal design.
  • Color calibration and binning — matching color across fixtures so a facade reads as one surface.
  • Conformal coating and sealingconformal coating and waterproof/submersible build for IP66–IP68 fixtures.
  • Surge protection — for exposed and rooftop installations.

8. LED Wall Washer PCB FAQs

Do you sell wall washer fixtures, or manufacture the boards?

We manufacture and assemble the boards — the RGB/RGBW color light engine and the DMX or addressable control board — to your specification, as bare PCBs, populated PCBAs, or complete tested fixture modules. We are a contract PCB factory and OEM partner, not a fixture brand; you design and sell the fixture, and we build its electronics to your design or engineer them to your requirements.

What is the difference between DMX and addressable pixel control?

DMX512/RDM treats each fixture or channel group as one controllable unit — ideal for solid-color scenes and synchronized shows. Addressable pixel control gives every LED or small cluster its own data address, allowing video-like gradients and moving effects. We assemble both, using our LED-display pixel-control experience for addressable builds, and match the control board to the engine’s channel and pixel layout you specify.

Can you fabricate flexible wall washers for curved architecture?

Yes. We fabricate wall-washer engines on flexible substrates that bend to follow curved facades, columns, and reveals, and we can combine flexible and rigid sections in one fixture. Flexible builds use the same RGB/RGBW color mixing and DMX or addressable control as rigid linear washers, all to your design.

How do you keep color consistent across a long linear run?

Through power-distribution design and binning. Long runs suffer voltage drop that dims and shifts color toward the far end, so we design constant-current regulation, add power-injection points, and use clean low-voltage DC distribution to hold color consistency end to end, paired with emitter binning for uniform color across fixtures — fabricated to your run layout.

Can you build fully submersible wall washers for pools and fountains?

Yes. For underwater and pool fixtures we apply our waterproof PCB practices for full submersion (IP68), with conformal coating and sealed construction, using the same color engines and control hardened for permanent water immersion — manufactured to your fixture design.
