Outdoor Lighting PCB Manufacturing & Assembly by Highleap Electronics

Highleap Electronics is a PCB fabrication and assembly factory that manufactures the boards behind exterior luminaires — to your specification. We are not a luminaire brand; you design and sell the fixture, and we are your contract manufacturer for the metal-core light engines, drivers, and control boards inside it. Outdoor lighting imposes hard constraints — high heat density in sealed housings, exposure to rain, salt, dust and frost, lightning surges, and decades-long service with little access — and we build to those constraints, to your design or engineered to your requirements. This guide maps the category and links to our detailed page for each luminaire type. ISO 9001, MOQ 1 unit, 24-hour quote.
If you build outdoor lighting of any kind, send us your specification for a same-day quote, or read on for how we manufacture the boards.
1. Why Lighting Manufacturers Choose Highleap for Outdoor Lighting PCB
Outdoor lighting reliability comes down to three things, all of which live on the board we fabricate: getting heat out of a sealed housing, keeping water and surge out of the electronics, and holding performance for decades. We build all three to your specification, and we manufacture the whole electronics package rather than just the light engine — so hybrids like solar floods or smart street lights are straightforward for you to source.
- Build-to-spec manufacturing — we fabricate and assemble to your design and standards, or engineer the board to your performance requirements.
- Metal-core specialization — aluminum and copper-core light engines, thermally validated in-house.
- Complete electronics scope — light engine, driver, solar/battery, and control boards from one supplier.
- Weatherproofing — conformal coating, potting, and waterproof build from IP65 to IP68.
- MOQ 1 unit, ISO 9001, IPC Class 2/3, OEM/white-label; ships to 40+ countries.
2. The Light Engine — Metal-Core PCB Fabrication
The light engine is the thermal heart of any outdoor luminaire. Because the fixture is sealed, the board is the primary heat path from junction to heat sink, so virtually all outdoor lighting uses a metal-core (aluminum or copper) substrate rather than FR-4. We fabricate this board to your stackup or recommend one to meet a thermal target you specify.
- Aluminum MCPCB — the workhorse of outdoor lighting; see aluminum LED PCB.
- Copper-core MCPCB — for the highest-power fixtures like stadium floods; see aluminum vs copper core.
- Dielectric layer — sets the thermal-resistance budget; see MCPCB dielectric layer.
- LED format — SMD for even optics and thermal spreading, COB for compact high-flux heads, built per your design.

3. Peripheral Boards — Drivers, Solar and Control We Build
A light engine never works alone. Every outdoor luminaire needs power conditioning, and many need solar charging, battery management, or smart control — each a board we fabricate and assemble to your design.
- LED driver boards — constant-current drive with power-factor correction; see LED driver PCB.
- Solar charge controllers — MPPT and PWM for off-grid lighting; see solar charge controllers.
- Battery management — protecting lithium packs in solar fixtures; see battery-management PCB.
- Smart and dynamic control — dimming, photocell, motion, and DMX on a dynamic power-control PCB.
4. The Outdoor Lighting Application Map
Outdoor lighting divides into major applications, each with its own board requirements. We manufacture boards for all of them, to your specification, and each has a detailed page:
- LED street light PCB — roadway and area luminaires; aluminum engines, surge-hardened drivers, retrofit modules.
- Solar LED street light PCB — off-grid roadway lighting; MPPT controllers, BMS, all-in-one boards.
- LED flood light PCB — high-power area and security floods; COB and SMD engines, RGBW control.
- LED tunnel light PCB — 24/7 high-reliability luminaires with adaptive dimming and corrosion hardening.
- LED stadium light PCB — very-high-power sports floods with flicker-free broadcast drivers.
- LED parking lot light PCB — shoebox and area lights with photocell and motion control.
- LED wall washer PCB — architectural facade lighting with DMX and pixel control.
- LED garden light PCB — compact low-voltage and solar residential fixtures.
- LED landscape light PCB — uplights, well lights, and IP68 submersible fixtures.

5. Thermal, Weatherproofing and Reliability Manufacturing
Thermal management is the single most important reliability factor, because LED life and output both fall as junction temperature rises. Protecting the board from the environment is the second pillar, and longevity the third. We build all three to the standard you specify.
- Low junction-to-case resistance — substrate, dielectric, and a clean heat-sink interface; see LED thermal design and MCPCB heat dissipation.
- Weatherproofing — conformal coating, waterproofing to IP65–IP68, and 10 kV+ surge protection for exposed poles.
- Reliability methods — IPC Class 3 and burn-in for demanding programs; automotive-grade discipline via our automotive LED PCB work.

8. Outdoor Lighting PCB FAQs
Does Highleap sell outdoor lighting fixtures, or manufacture the boards?
We are a PCB fabrication and assembly factory, not a luminaire brand. We manufacture the boards inside exterior fixtures — the light engine, driver, and any solar or control board — to your specification, as bare PCBs, populated PCBAs, or complete tested modules. You design and sell the finished luminaire under your own brand; we are your contract manufacturer and OEM/white-label partner.
What is an outdoor lighting PCB, and why can’t it use standard FR-4?
An outdoor lighting PCB is the circuit board inside an exterior luminaire — the light engine that holds the LEDs, plus the driver and any control or solar boards. Outdoor fixtures are sealed against weather, so heat from the LEDs must leave through the board into the housing. Standard FR-4 is a poor heat conductor, so outdoor lighting uses metal-core (aluminum or copper) boards that move heat away from the junction far more effectively. We fabricate these to your design.
Can you manufacture boards for every type of outdoor lighting?
Yes. We fabricate and assemble light engines, drivers, and control boards for street lights, solar street lights, floodlights, tunnel lights, stadium and sports lights, parking-lot and area lights, wall washers and facade lighting, garden and residential lighting, and landscape and underwater fixtures — all to your specification. Each has a dedicated page, and because we build the whole board set we also handle hybrids like solar floods or smart street lights.
Can I supply finished files, or will you design the board to my specification?
Either. You can supply finished Gerbers and a BOM for us to build to print, or send a performance specification — wattage, optics, environment, control — and our engineering team will design the light engine and peripheral boards to it, then fabricate and assemble. You own the resulting design, and we keep your files on file for repeat orders.
Why does thermal design matter so much for outdoor lighting reliability?
Because both LED output and lifetime fall as junction temperature rises. In a sealed outdoor housing the board is the primary heat path, so a poor thermal design leads to fast lumen depreciation, color shift, and early failure. We fabricate every board around a thermal budget — substrate, dielectric, copper, and heat-sink interface — to keep junction temperature low over the decades-long service life your fixture needs.
