SMT: Analysis of common faults and causes
SMT placement machine is one of the very important equipment in the electronic manufacturing industry. It has the advantages of high degree of automation, high efficiency and high precision, but it also has some fault problems. The following introduces you to some faults that are easily caused during the SMT patching process
PCBA smt common faults
1. Component feeding failure.
When components are taken out of the feeder, faults such as jamming, deflection or swing may occur, causing the components to not be fed normally.
2. Component location failure.
Due to factors such as the size, shape or positioning holes of the components, the optical positioning system cannot correctly identify the location of the components, resulting in the problem of inaccurate component pasting locations.
3. The pasting head is faulty.
The pasting head is one of the most common faulty parts in SMT placement machines. It may get stuck, shake or wear, resulting in poor pasting results.
4. Welding failure.
Problems such as welding slag, short circuit or open circuit may occur during the welding process, resulting in poor welding results or welding failure.
5. Machine operation failure.
The operating failure of the machine may include electrical failure, mechanical failure, software failure, etc., causing the machine to fail to work properly.
Causes of failure
1. The components are of poor quality.
Due to quality issues of components, such as inaccurate size, shape or pin location of components, problems arise in feeding, positioning and pasting.
2. Improper maintenance.
SMT placement machines require regular cleaning and maintenance. If worn parts are not cleaned or replaced in time, it may cause problems such as sticking and wear of the pasting head, or cause electrical failure of the machine.
3. Improper operation.
If the operator is unskilled or operates improperly, such as selecting wrong components, inappropriate welding temperature, pasting too fast, etc., malfunctions may also occur.
4. Optical positioning system problems.
The optical positioning system of the SMT placement machine is a very critical component. If there is a problem with the positioning system or the calibration is inaccurate, it will lead to inaccurate component placement.
5. Interference from external factors.
SMT placement machines have relatively high environmental requirements, such as temperature, humidity, electrical interference, etc. If the environment is unstable or external interference is large, it will affect the normal operation of the machine.
